Mayor Bloomberg to work with New Visions for Public Schools on Education
The strategy championed by recent Bureau Blank client, New Visions for Public Schools, will be included in Mayor Michael Bloomberg's new education initiatives to improve New York City's public high schools.
Mayor Bloomberg, Schools Chancellor Joel Klein and the New York City Department of Education have been addressing solutions for schools that had failed in their educational missions.
New Visions for Public Schools, with a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, advocates reinventing school campuses to foster smaller communities within the school buildings. Since a refreshed perception among students, teachers, and community members is key to the new strategy's success, Bureau Blank worked with New Visions to redesign identity systems for 10 campuses and over 80 individual high schools. We also designed over 1,000 pieces of signage to brand the new learning environments and a brochure to be used to explain the process.
Chancellor Klein was quoted in a recent New York Times article as saying, "No longer are we hoping for kids who will meet the needs of our school system. We are designing a school system that will meet the needs of our kids." Congratulations to New Visions for making a real impact on the educational future of the city's youth!
